Community Guidelines

By HomeSorted Editorial Team Last reviewed 16 February 2026Last updated 16 February 2026

HomeSorted is a marketplace of real people meeting real people in real homes. These guidelines set the behaviours expected of both clients and providers. Breaches trigger warnings, suspensions or permanent bans, in that order.

What we expect from everyone

  • Treat every other user with respect. Racism, hate speech, harassment and discrimination are permanent-ban offences.
  • Do not share personal contact details in public bios, reviews or job descriptions — we sanitise them automatically and repeated attempts trigger enforcement.
  • Do not attempt to move interactions off-platform. Off-platform side deals lose our dispute cover and violate our terms.
  • Do not misrepresent yourself, your qualifications, or the work you have completed.
  • Rate honestly — do not coordinate positive reviews, offer incentives for reviews, or leave reviews for jobs that did not take place.

Prohibited conduct

  • Any illegal activity, including trade work you are not legally registered to perform (PIRB, Department of Employment and Labour, gas installer registrations).
  • Physical or verbal violence toward another user.
  • Any attempt to solicit sexual services through the platform.
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade a ban.
  • Coordinated review manipulation or bid rigging.

Enforcement

  1. Warning

For first-time minor issues (e.g. sharing a phone number in chat), we issue a warning and remove the offending content.

  2. Suspension

For repeat minor issues or one-off serious issues, we suspend the account temporarily with a written reason.

  3. Permanent ban

For severe issues (violence, hate speech, fraud, evasion of a previous ban), the account is permanently closed. Bans are enforced against the underlying identity, not just the account.

Reporting a violation

Use the in-app "Report a problem" button on any job or the Contact page at /trust/contact. Reports are reviewed by the platform integrity team, not by an automated system. False reports are themselves a violation and can result in enforcement against the reporter.
