How to Book a Service

Choose your service category
HomeSorted offers 42 service categories across 8 verticals: Home Maintenance, Security, Energy, Automotive, Beauty & Wellness, Care & Family, Food, and Other. Browse the categories or use the search bar to find what you need.
Tip: Not sure which category? Pick "Handyman" or "Other" and describe the job — providers will find you.
Describe the job clearly
Write a clear description of what needs to be done. Include details like the size of the area, type of materials needed, and any access instructions. You can also upload photos to show the current state.
Tip: Jobs with photos get 40% more bids and providers can quote more accurately.
Set your location and preferred date
Enter your suburb and city. Pick a preferred date and time, or select "Flexible" if you're open to the provider's availability. You can also mark the job as "Urgent" for an additional R35 if you need someone today.
Choose your request type
You have two options: "Post a Job" lets providers bid competitively on your job. "Request a Quote" matches you with top-rated providers who send you fixed quotes. Both work well — bids are great for getting the best price, quotes are faster.
Review and compare bids
Once your job is live, verified providers will bid on it. Each bid shows the provider's price, rating, number of completed jobs, response time, and portfolio. Take your time comparing.
Tip: Providers who respond within the first hour tend to have the best availability and commitment.
Accept a bid and confirm
Tap "Accept" on your chosen bid. The booking is confirmed instantly — no upfront deposit. You'll receive the provider's details and an in-app chat opens so you can coordinate.
